Adjacent to one of the capital’s main avenues, in a part of the city where history and transformation intertwine, stands the building that housed the Regusci Reco company for almost ninety years. Built in 1901 and a landmark in the history of Bellinzona, the building has been given a new lease of life thanks to the collaboration between Studio Gest and the artist Sir Taki as a temporary work of art, capable of narrating a changing present and anticipating a future of regeneration.
The site-specific installation is an imposing photographic collage on paper covering the five façades of the building facing the roundabout. The work invites reflection on the complexity of both today’s and yesterday’s world. “Amid conflicts and digital voyeurism, the fragile yet necessary possibility of reconstruction grounded on interpersonal love emerges,” says the ticinese artist Sir Taki.
